Zero tolerance, proactive protection

Standards Against Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation

AstroMatch is committed to preventing, detecting, and reporting child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and any form of child exploitation on our platform. These standards explain the safeguards we operate and the expectations we set for everyone who uses AstroMatch.

Last updated: April 15, 2025 Applies to all AstroMatch products and services.

Proactive prevention

Strict verification and behavior monitoring keep minors from accessing AstroMatch and stop offenders before harm occurs.

Swift detection and response

Layered detection tooling, trained reviewers, and mandatory escalation protocols let us act within minutes when potential CSAM is flagged.

Collaboration with experts

We work closely with child-safety organizations, NCMEC, and law enforcement partners to keep our community aligned with global best practices.

Eligibility and access controls

AstroMatch is reserved for adults. We implement layered safeguards to prevent minors from joining and to block anyone attempting to exploit children.

  • AstroMatch is a strictly 18+ community. Birthdate, age-gating, and document checks help ensure only adults create accounts.
  • Continuous automated scans look for attempts to reference or solicit minors, with enforced account removal for any violation.
  • We block repeat registration attempts from banned devices, emails, and payment instruments.

Reporting suspected abuse

Everyone has a responsibility to report suspected child exploitation. Report in-app using the Safety menu, or contact our dedicated team directly.

In-product reporting

Tap the ⋯ menu on any profile or message, choose “Report”, then select “Minor safety concern”.

Email

Write to [email protected] with screenshots, usernames, and timestamps if available.

Emergency

If a child is in immediate danger contact local law enforcement first, then notify us so we can preserve evidence.

How we respond

Dedicated Trust & Safety responders manage every CSAE report with urgency, transparency, and care for potential victims.

  1. Safety specialists review every report within 15 minutes and may immediately suspend involved accounts.
  2. Potential CSAM is hashed, securely stored, and escalated to NCMEC and relevant law-enforcement per statutory requirements.
  3. We preserve device identifiers, IP logs, and communication metadata to support criminal investigations while respecting due process.
  4. When reports are unsubstantiated we document findings, monitor for repeat behaviour, and offer education to reporting parties.

Detection, tooling, and safeguards

We combine technology and human expertise to identify and remove CSAM quickly while safeguarding member privacy.

  • Industry-standard hashing (PhotoDNA, MD5, SHA-1) compares uploads against known CSAM databases.
  • AI-assisted classifiers and natural-language models identify grooming language, coercive behaviour, and attempts to share illicit media.
  • Human reviewers double-check high-risk matches before enforcement to reduce false positives and bias.

Training and responder wellbeing

Protecting children requires specialists who are supported and regularly trained.

  • All staff with content access receive annual CSAE training aligned with Tech Coalition best practices.
  • Live drills and tabletop exercises simulate cross-functional escalation with Trust & Safety, Legal, and Engineering teams.
  • We provide trauma-informed mental health support and rotation schedules to reduce exposure fatigue for reviewers.

Partnerships and information sharing

Collaboration with leading CSAE organizations keeps our standards aligned with global expertise.

  • National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline reporting and feedback loops.
  • Participation in Tech Coalition and WePROTECT knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Local law-enforcement MoUs to expedite legal requests where AstroMatch operates.
